Dot NAME Domain Names

Introduced in 2001, the .NAME universal TLD is the sole TLD meant for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. Initially, solely 3rd-level registrations were permitted, so if you wanted to secure john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered third-level names remained active.

You will have the chance to change the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our firm if you have its EPP transfer authorization key from the current domain registrar and we will renew it when the transfer has been finalized. There are no particular regulations on who can acquire a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the goal behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry organization may check who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
